Design.
Design, branding and conceptual work has become a one of our most popular services, indeed there are many agencies in the UK, but not many who have the technical knowledge of the print process that we hold. Branding to typesetting, we work from a fulcrum of technical knowledge and design that will deliver an absolute premium final product that will have the impact you desire. We can see the project from the start right through to completion, with FOGRA standard proofing, press passes, binding and mailing to ensure the product you need is both achievable and outstanding. Design with print in mind is our mantra, we are here to create what you desire for your school, you can rest assured it will look as good in reality as it does on screen. You can enjoy time sat with one of our four graphic designers, making changes and adjustments either in person or on video call to ensure you receive what you need and when you need it.
There are a lot of different levels of litho print quality – we can be certain ours is second to none. We have invested in different technology to most other suppliers, technology that provides you the best quality in the UK. The installation of our Komori H-UV Press we can also bring you print that is instantly dry on any material – including uncoated, matt and silk papers, plastics and more. We have the most efficient and intelligent litho presses available today that deliver you, speed, accuracy but most of all premium quality. We operate two Ricoh digital presses, our colour press which can handle 400gsm board, A4 landscape brochures, A4 6 page and more all with FOGRA standard colour matching. Also our dedicated mono digital press handles school diaries, books and invitations. A 21st Century print company needs to give you all the options you need to make your project a success. The latest addition to the Shelleys service portfolio is large/wide format printing, including exhibition and display systems which help you promote your school, event or brand anywhere and everywhere.
Finishing
Print finishing is often overlooked, this is where we can turn flat sheets into beautiful books, folders, brochures, displays and more. We have a complete in-house bindery, which enables us to keep complete control over quality and scheduling, it becomes most powerful when connected to our design studio. This is where we are able to really create for you, the direct relationship via our on-site print and bindery means we can achieve exceptional results for you. A small selection of the products we bind in house are, paperback books, folders, leaflets, brochures, postcards, gloss, matt and soft touch lamination. We are also able to provide bespoke die cutting, sewn books and more. This is Design with Print in Mind.
Our Heritage
Shelleys the printers was christened 1986 by David Coombs. He had previously worked at the Abbey Press, printers in Sherborne so when it came up for sale, David bought the company to further grow this value heritage which dates back to the early 1900’s. The main focus, even back to those early days was education, since the late 1980’s Shelleys have developed this service to encompass a comprehensive design, print, finishing and mailing provider, single point of contact for all your marketing and administration needs. When Glenn, David’s son joined Shelleys the Printer in 1992 Graphic Design took a leap forward and Glenn’s vision for educational design continues to develop to this day. As our design portfolio grew, so did our print needs and our first 4 colour litho press arrived in 2009 and in 2014 we joined forces with another family business Remous Print, together we believe we have the most complete education-centric company in the UK, operating across 3 sites in Dorset. Our heritage continues to grow, we are client focused more than ever and thanks to our complete in house service, we design with print in mind to give you exactly what you need and when you need it.

Why we are Different
Many design agencies will manage your print or can ‘supply’ all your print. Here at Shelleys we have full in house production, from Design to Delivery, but the technology and experience in our production facility here in Dorset is second to none. We invest in the latest technology available in both Digital and Litho print, this coupled with our strict Remous Quality Control System (RQC) designed and implemented by our team, we hold ourselves to very high standards – this is all possible due to our inhouse production.
